The food manufacturing industry has seen rapid advancements in automation, and today’s industrial video production plays a crucial role in showcasing these innovations. As the demand for efficient and high-quality food production grows, video content allows companies to communicate the precision and productivity of their processes. My work in this sector highlights these systems, allowing manufacturers to demonstrate the automation involved in their workflows, from initial processing to the final packaging of food products.
The Role of Automation in Food Manufacturing
Automation has revolutionised the food industry, especially in high-demand environments. With cutting-edge technologies like the Vertical Form Fill Seal (VFFS) systems, automated processes streamline production, reduce waste, and improve accuracy. In particular, VFFS systems efficiently package items by vertically filling and sealing bags with food products, ensuring consistency and minimal product loss. This type of automated packaging has become essential in meeting modern manufacturing demands, handling everything from weighing and filling to sealing in a single automated motion.
Advanced Conveying and Packaging: The TNA Solutions Advantage
TNA Solutions is a world-renowned company that develops advanced systems for food processing, seasoning, weighing, and packaging. Headquartered in Birmingham, TNA Solutions provides high-tech systems such as the Robag® 3CI and the Roflo® VM3 that offer unique advantages to food manufacturers. These systems are designed to improve speed, efficiency, and precision while addressing the specific needs of various food types. For example, the Robag 3CI is celebrated for its high-speed, precision packaging capabilities, which allow manufacturers to meet demanding production targets without compromising quality.
Case Study: Video Production for TNA Solutions’ Roflo® VM3
As part of my portfolio, I had the opportunity to create a video production for TNA Solutions, focusing on their Roflo® VM3 conveyor system. This advanced conveyor system uses horizontal vibratory motion to ensure that food products are evenly distributed, facilitating in-line storage while minimising product damage and seasoning loss. It’s a compelling example of automation at its finest, combining gentle handling with high-speed throughput. The Roflo VM3’s capabilities include:
• Rapid Conveying Speeds: With speeds of up to 15m/min, the system can move products quickly without sacrificing careful handling.
• Versatile Pan Options: Customisable pans allow manufacturers to tailor the conveyor system to their specific product needs, whether handling delicate snacks or more robust items.
• Enhanced Efficiency and Reduced Waste: The vibratory motion minimises product damage, making it ideal for fragile items like potato chips or gummies.
• Low Energy Consumption: By working on a natural frequency with no wearing parts, the system reduces maintenance needs, thereby lowering total cost of ownership (TCO).
Standard features such as a compact microprocessor controller and built-in feedback sensors further enhance the Roflo® VM3’s precision, while optional additions like seasoning solutions and multipack systems increase its adaptability. This customisable conveyor system exemplifies how automation in food manufacturing promotes product integrity, worker safety, and resource conservation.
Maximising Efficiency in Food Production
The TNA Roflo® VM3 also supports high operational efficiency with its continuous vibratory motion, which handles products gently while increasing overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Its intelligent software monitors use, identifies maintenance needs, and proactively schedules upkeep, minimising downtime. This system is not only robust but also promotes a quieter work environment with a noise level below 70dB(A), making it one of the most efficient conveyor systems for food production.
Video Production to Showcase Industrial Innovation
For TNA Solutions, our video production highlighted the Robag® 3CI’s precision, reliability, and suitability for high-speed applications. Capturing these systems in action allows potential clients to see the quality of TNA’s engineering and understand how these systems can enhance productivity. With food manufacturers under constant pressure to meet tight production schedules while maintaining product quality, automation solutions like the Robag 3CI and Roflo® VM3 are invaluable.
